Press Release Summary: Student Fashion Designers Help Save the Planet with Glamorous
Sustainable Garments.

Press Release Body: Los Angeles (June 7, 2008) - With the theme, "Eco & Vine", the
concept of environmental awareness and the glamour of Hollywood intersecting with
one another through fashion, design students at the California Design College
created sustainable designs that are fashionable and wearable and also help to
reduce waste, and ultimately, our carbon footprint. Additionally, in the spirit of
environmental awareness
and respect for our planet the entire stage set was covered in raw canvas fabric
that will be re-used by students in fundamental construction classes to produce
shopping bags. The bags will be used instead of environmentally harmful plastic
shopping bags. In keeping with the theme, the sold-out venue for the student fashion
show was the Avalon Hollywood on Vine Street in Hollywood.

For this fashion show, 21 student fashion designers were required to follow
earth-friendly criteria. To accomplish this, some designers chose to find outdated,
post-consumer garments from thrift stores to personal closets, and to then
deconstruct them to create something entirely new while others used organic fabrics
and dyes, as well as recycled trims to create their garments. Some designers went
even further to \"go green\" by recycling nontraditional materials such as plastics
and paper bags in their designs. By choosing to create sustainable clothing, the
designers are demonstrating how the fashion industry can do its part to preserve our
planet for generations to come.

This year's featured fashion design students who used the eco-friendly criteria
were: Justine Babb, Richard Berrueta, Anita Chugarnkar, Lillian Love Dennis, Kristin
Don, Erick Garcia, Stacy Godwin, Yuki Haya, Cesar Hurtado, Tiffany Johnson, Gina
Karris, Liz Kok, Linda Miller, Maria Sonia Moreno, Kelsea Neal, Fabiana Pigna,
Antoinette Love Ransom, Paris Smith, Altha St. Clair, Brittany Stocker, Soyla
Tostado.
